Happy Birthday Girl Scouts!

Last week it was the 103rd birthday of Girl Scouts!
So we had a birthday party of course!
With cake!

All the troops at our school came and it was so much fun.  We learned some new songs.

We ate some cake.

We learned some new games.

And we danced and had a good time celebrating!

Home Scientist!

Things got a little messy at our last meeting. We did all kinds of fun science experiments!
First we made raisins dance!

We learned about density and watched them move up and down in the pop.

Next we blew up balloons and made static electricity.  We watched what happened when we rubbed the balloon on our hair and on paper.

We even used it to make some pepper dance!

All the while, Mrs. Held and I were shaking up some ingredients in order to try and make our own ice cream.

We also put a balloon with vinegar to watch the air fill the balloon without us having to blow it up.

Things got a little crazy when we took some diet pop and mints outside.

We were going to make our own geyers.  All you do is drop them in

and run!

Check it out!

It was fun to watch!

After that, we came back in and made dino snot!  The girls all had a chance to get their hands dirty and help mix it.

Finally, we got to taste our ice cream.  Each girl got a little spoonful and that was about it.

And actually most girls like it and wanted more!

And of course, the girls got to take home their balloons because you know....why not?

Dance!

At our last meeting, our Brownie troop worked on the Dancer patch. First we learned some of the old school ways of ladies. We practiced good posture by walking with book balanced on our heads.

We learned how to curtsy properly.

After that, we learned all kinds of dances starting back in the 20's with the Charleston.

We tried a little swing dancing too.

We did the twist.

We learned how to do the hand jive!

We did some popular dances like the Chicken dance.

The girls even learned a cool move called "the running man."

We did come other dances too like the Cha-Cha slide.

And we ended our lessons by doing the YMCA!

I think the girls had fun learning all different kinds of dances.  We also recently did a Zumba class and just had our Daddy/Daughter dance so we have been dancing our little hearts out!
