Over the weekend, a few of my Daisies and I headed to meet with other Girl Scouts for a campfire and sing along.
It was so much fun. We brought blankets to sit on. We got songbooks and a snack of "walking smores" which was marshmallows, chocolate chips, pretzels, and golden grahams in a baggie. It was yummy! We got to sing all kinds of fun songs and many of them brought back to many memories of my younger Girl Scout days. The girls had fun singing and moving along to the songs. We discussed of having our own campfire. We can't wait to to teach our other friends all these new songs and get our patch for our tunics. Gracie, Addison, Marin, Kate, Allison, and Melanie had a blast though! I think their moms did too!

Being Responsible!
We kicked off our second Girl Scout meeting of the year by earning our patch on how to be responsible!
We read the story of how our flower friend Mari was responsible and we talked about how we can be responsible at home and at school. We made door hangers that will serve as chore charts to help us at be responsible at home.
We met with each girl and talked about chores that they do or can do at home to be more repsonsible such as helping do dishes, feeding our pets, cleaning our rooms, and doing homework.
The girls got to decorate their charts and find sticky letters with their names.
They had so much fun doing this.
We also talked about our fundraising projects on how we can sell things like candy and magaizines to help our troop earn money. It's not cookie time yet people. Soon! The girls were super excited about the prizes involved.
We wrapped up our meeting by letting the girls pick up clothespins. On one side of their chart it says "do" and the other side says "done." They start with their clips on "do" and after they do their chore each day, they move it to "done." Simple and easy and fun.
Plus they turned our really cute.
I hope all our little Daisies will be repsonsible and put their chore charts to good use! I know mine will!

Couregous and Strong!
We're back!
First Daisy meeting of the year!
We started our first meeting of the year by working to earn our red petal to be couregous and strong! We talked about being brave and trying something new like new foods, riding a two-wheeler with no training wheels. We also talked about being brave and standing up for others which was the lessoned learned in our story about Tula the Tulip. We talked about how to be brave in an emergency and to call 911, listening to our feelings, telling trusted adults, using our super powers, and using the buddy system. We also made beady bracelets in which our parents are going to write their cell phone numbers on and we can not only wear them to learn the number, but to wear when we go places like the park, the store, the zoo, etc. That way if we get lost, we can find a trusting adult and they can help us find our parents.
And then we had some real fun. We talked about how to be strong, not only with our feelings, but with our bodies too. We had our friend Mrs. Weibye come and do a little Zumba with us to get our bodies a little bit stronger.
The girls totally had so much fun with this.
And it was super cute to watch them.
They even did a little cooldown to one of my favs, NKOTB!
We are excited to be back with our troop and excited to have fun with these girls! A few didn't come back from last year and we gained 2 more new Daisy friends, Marin and Emily.
We have the best Daisy troop on the planet!

Build-A-Bear!
Today our Daisy troop headed over to the mall and went to Build-a-Bear!
We decided to meet to kick off the summer and make a troop bear that we can all help build and donate to a children's hospital. The girls got to first decide which bear to get.
After we decided on the white bear, it was time for every girl to get a heart and bless it to put in the bear.
Then all the girls got to put their hearts into the bear.
Then it was time for each girl to step on the petal to help stuff the bear.
After that, every girl got a chance give the bear a bath and make sure it was all clean.
Then, because the store sells Girl Scout outfits for the bears, we had to decide on an outfit.
We decided on simple. We went with the Daisy Girl Scout vest. We can add patches on to it later.
Then we got to sit at the computer and make a birth certificate and give our bear a name.
I think they were excited about sitting on the springy stools though too.
So we decided on the name "Daisy" for our troop bear. That's fitting.
We can't wait to give our bear to another little girl in hopes in will bring her as much joy as we had in making it.
After we made our troop bear, all of the girls went and made their own bears. Now I had never been there before so I was pretty excited. Gracie choose the Thin Mint Bear which is a Girl Scout bear.
She had fun stuffing her bear.
And bathing it too.
Of course we had to get the Sleeping Beauty dress for her bear but we also got the Daisy Girl Scout vest too.
What a beary good time we had!

Last Daisy Meeting for the Year!
We wrapped up our last Daisy
meeting of the year on May 20th. We had lots of fun things planned. The girls learned about Juliette Gordon Lowe who was the founding woman of the Girl Scouts. We colored and put together paper dolls of Juliette to use as a Flat Stanley project for the summer. The girls will be taking their Juliette's with them on their fun adventures this summer and then send me the pictures so that we can post them to our troop blog to see what all our Daisy friends are doing this summer!
We also decorated picture frames with a picture of our troop so that we can not only remember all the friends we made this year in Daisies, but all the fun memories we made too.
We invited our moms and dads in at the end of the meeting to have a patch ceremony. The girls worked hard in the few short months we had together and we wanted to make a speical presentation to acknowledge that. The girls earned the promise center for learning the Girl Scout Promise and 3 petals too! We can't wait until next year to earn the rest!
All of our girls are so special and they all received daisy seeds to plant at their homes so they can watch them bloom and grow just like our wonderful little Daisy girls!
Have a great summer!
