Tree Trimming!

We had a great time the other day at school! A few of the Girl Scout troops came together to decorate our tree at school and have some holiday fun!

We had quite a few Daisy and Brownie troops there but thankfully we had some older Girl Scouts to help out!

We started out by playing some relay games.

First the girls had to walk with a popsicle stick and balance a marshmallow on it.

Then the girls had to race to put on some winter gear.

Next we learned a cool new game that had us singing a new sassy version of "Rudolph."

After that, we got to eat snacks!

Then finally it was our troop's turn to decorate the tree. We made our own ornaments as part of the using resources wisely petal.  The girls were so excited to hang them up.

Here is all of the awesome Girl Scouts that were there.

We ended it by making one big friendship circle and doing the friendship squeeze.
It was so much fun!

Using Resources Wisely!

I am late in posting our last meeting from last week. This meeting was fun because we had the girls bring in recycled items and we made Christmas ornaments out of them!

The girls had so much fun crafting.

What creative little daisies we have!

We are excited because for our next meeting we will be hanging our handmade ornaments on our school's Christmas tree!  We will be teaming up with other troops at our school to help decorate it!  It will be so much fun! We can't wait!

Respecting Authority and a Trip to the Dentist Office!

Today we did all kinds of good stuff at our meeting! We read the story of Gerri the Geranium and how it's important to repsect authority.  We learned that you should always follow the rules and listen to parents, teachers, police officers, principals, etc.
But then we had  a little bit of fun....we made a Halloween craft!
We painted baby food jars with liquid startch and orange tissue paper.  We cut our pumpkin faces from black construction paper.

They are drying over night but we have candles to put in them and they will look pretty cool on Halloween night when they are lit.
Mrs. Vershay, our school principal, was supposed to come in and talk to us about her job and following the rules but she couldn't make it so we watched the story of Officer Buckly and Gloria instead.

After that, we met up again at the local pediatric dentist office.  We continued our talk of how we should respect ourselves by taking care of our teeth. We talked about foods that were good and bad for your teeth and how we need to brush and floss.

The girls each got a turn to ride in the dentist chairs.  They were like spaceships and they had so much fun!

We continued our talk about taking care of our teeth and colored a pumpkin with funny-looking teeth. We even sang a song about our teeth!

Thank you Plainfield Pediatric Dentist Office!

We had so much fun and can't wait to use our new toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss pick!

Pumpkin Patch!

Today we didn't have any school so many of us from Daisies met at the Pumpkin Patch!

We met at Dollinger's Pumpkin Patch where it's so fun.  But lots of other people had the same idea because it was so crowded!

We were only missing a few of the girls but Gracie, Jackie, Evelyn, Emmaline, Allison, Melanie,  Kate, and Addison came!  How many Daisies can you find in the pumpkin patch?

We played for awhile and  then we decided to pet some goats and see some other animals.

We started with picnic lunch outside but as soon as we opened our food, all the bees came over too so we moved inside.

After lunch some of the Daisies went through the corn maze.

I think all the families that came out had a great time. It was great weather.  A good way to spend the morning out.  Even Baby Charlie Held had fun!

Being Respectful!

At our troop meeting today, we discussed what it means to be respectful. We talked how to respect ourselves and how to respect others.  We played a game based off our Daisy Flower Friend Gloria, the Morning Glory.  If it was respectful, we had to act it out.  If not, we stayed still.  We made these handprints with a saying that help remind us and our families to respect each other and wash our hands.

Here is what it said.

Then we also made posters on how to be respectful. All the girls had a different way to be respectful and we made posters to hang up at our school.
Next week we will continue learning about how to respect ourselves by taking a little field trip to the dentist office so they can tell us how to take care of our teeth.

Girl Scout Campfire and Sing Along!

Over the weekend, a few of my Daisies and I headed to meet with other Girl Scouts for a campfire and sing along. It was so much fun.  We brought blankets to sit on.  We got songbooks and a snack of "walking smores" which was marshmallows, chocolate chips, pretzels, and golden grahams in a baggie.  It was yummy!  We got to sing all kinds of fun songs and many of them brought back to many memories of my younger Girl Scout days.  The girls had fun singing and moving along to the songs.  We discussed of having our own campfire.  We can't wait to to teach our other friends all these new songs and get our patch for our tunics.  Gracie, Addison, Marin, Kate, Allison, and Melanie had a blast though!  I think their moms did too!
