Starting our Brownie Quest!

Since we are Brownies now, we have new journeys to go on. Our first journey that we are going to do as Brownies is called the Brownie Quest!
Here is our map of how we are going to earn it.

We have some fun stories to read in this book as we take our journey.

We started out journey by making stars to get to know each other.  We have been in our troop for 3 years but there is always something new to learn about!

The girls also got to go on a quest to find the lines of the Girl Scout Promise and discuss why it's important to them.

We put our stars on the back of our kaper chart to remind us all that we are shining stars.  This was all part of earning our Discovery Key!

The girls even took home a star to make about their families to show us at our next meeting as we work on the Connecting Key!

Our First Brownie Meeting!

Today was our first day of Brownies!
We are so excited to begin this new journey!  We decided that since the girls are older now, they should have more responsibilities.  So I made this kaper chart.  The girls will now have jobs such as the Brownie Elf helper, the Girl Scout Law leader, the Girl Scout Promise leader, material helpers, Friendship Circle helper, and of course, the snack helper.

They each decorated a Girl Scout that we will put in the pockets when it is their turn.
As Daisies, we worked hard to earn our petals and work on the Girl Scout Promise.
And now that we are Brownies, all that we learned has helped us understand the Girl Scout Law.  We made it today using popsicle sticks.  We glued them on to construction paper and tied it with some string so they could hang it up.
The girls had fun making it.  We also played a fun game where we talked about the founder of Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Lowe, and practiced our Brownie Circle.
We welcomed our old friend from Daisies back, Olivia!  And we had one more girl join our troop this year.  Welcome Melaina!
It is going to be a fun year!  We have new journeys to take and new patches to explore!

Bridging to Brownies!

Today was a bittersweet day for our little Daisy troop. Actually it was a big day because.....we bridged to Brownies!
Here is one last look at our troop as Daisies.

We started off by saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the Girl Scout Promise.

Each girl got to share their favorite thing about Daisies and then give their moms a plant that they planted in a pot that they painted.  The tag attached said "Thanks for helping me grow as a Daisy."

We really do have a fabulous group of girls.  And they are all coming and moving up to Brownies with us!

We had two older Brownie friends that read a script about baking Brownies.  It was totally cute.

They mixed together all kinds of kindness, respect, responsibility, and sisterhood.

And when the timer went off, the Brownies were baked! Yes, our girls crawled out of an oven.  It was darling.

They all received a bridging packet that contained a certificare, their membership pin, and some bridging patches.

Holly and I can;t believe it's been two years already!

Me and my little Brownie.

Brownie BFF's.

And a girl who is excited to one day be a Brownie.

We gave our girls some nice gifts.  Besides the bridging packet, they each got a t-shirt that we made at our last meeting.  It's like daisy of everyone's handprints.  12 different colors for our 12 different girls.

We also tried having the girls lay like a daisy and take a picture.  We put them in frames and decorated them up with our troop number.

And because the girls are now Brownies, what more appropriate gift than actual Brownies?

We also enjoyed some baked brownies after our ceremony.
Congrats girls!  We are looking forward to our journey in Brownies!

Our Last Daisy Meeting!

Last week was our last Daisy meeting. The next time we meet, we will be bridging to Brownies!  We decided to wrap up our last meeting by first finishing up our Daisy Garden Journey by pulling weeds in our school's butterfly garden but we also made some crafts.  We all painted our hands a different color.....

And put them together to make a t-shirt.  We plan on giving these to the girls on bridging night.  I think they turned out pretty cute.

Some of our last group shots as Daisies.

Daisies was definately a fun time.  I can't wait to be a leader for Brownies!

3 Cheers for Animals!

I apologize to anyone reading this....I haven't been able to post pictures from our Daisy meetings as I recently moved and just got internet.   I wanted to recap a couple of our last meetings. This meeting took place back in April and we were working on our 3 Cheers for Animals Journey.  We started our meeting by doing some animal yoga poses.  It was so much fun.

We talked some more about how to care for animals and then we used flower pots to make birdbaths.

The girls had fun painting them and the pots sit upside down and then the saucer goes on top and you can put water in it for a bird bath.

We also made ladybug snacks.  We cut up apples and stuck raisins on the back for spots with peanut butter and then pretzels for the antenae.
