Today was a big day in the land of Girl Scouting....
Thinking Day!
It's a day where Girl Scouts come together and learn about other countries. Our troop picked the country of Norway. I know a lot about Norway, I'm Norwegian, and my mom has been there so we have plenty of things to show the girls. The girls had fun learning some fun facts about Norway. We were impressed by what they remembered. They helped us make the backboard and we made SWAPS, things to hand out to the other scouts that come visit our booth.
The girls made little suitcases and passports to take with them. We had it at the Wesmere Clubhouse with 5 other troops. Each troop presented a different country, brought a snack from that country, and played a game of some sort or made a craft.
It was pretty neat and our girls were super excited!
We had an opening ceremony.
Here's all the Girl Scouts from just our school!
And that's not even all the troops! Some were not there.
Here is our booth with Mrs. Held talking about Norway.
Our girls were great about sharing what they knew about Norway too!
Some of the other coutries represented were Australia. They made kanagaroos out of toilet paper tubes.
There was Ghana. They made some sort of tribal ink print.
Our girls having fun making wind socks.
Switzerland was there. They brought some yummy fondue.
Ireland was there with some good luck SWAPS.
Great Britain too.
We opted to tell a story as our activity. We shared the Norwegian folktale of "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" and we had masks for the girls to help act it out.
Everyone had a great time and learned so many new things.
We are already talking about what country we should do for next year!
