Overnight to Timber Ridge!

A couple days after school got out, our troop went on our first overnight!  The girls decided to use their cookie money to go on an overnight to a waterpark!  That is exactly what we did.  After a little hiccup with our first choice, we ended up at Timber Ridge Lodge in Lake Geneva!  Mrs. Beu came with us so we had 3 minivans caravanning up to the lodge.

 

The girls were so excited to be here!

We checked in, brought in our bags and got ready to hit the waterpark!

 

There were 2 waterslides, a lazy river, outdoor pools, hot tubs, a big pool, some more slides, and lily pads.  We told the girls to choose a buddy and stay with that buddy while swimming.  They scattered and had fun for hours!

 

After a few hours, they decided that they were hungry.

 

So we went up to our rooms, ordered pizzas and spent the night playing games, painting nails, and watching movies.

 

The rooms we stayed in were super nice.  They had 2 bedrooms with one being a loft, 2 bathrooms, plus a kitchen, dining room, and little family room with a pull-out couch.

 

The girls were up late and up bright and early.  We brought donuts and the girls were once again ready to hit the waterpark.

 

They got to swim for a few more hours and then change to head home.  We stopped at McDonald's for lunch.

 

It really was a fun trip!  I think everyone had fun!  Hopefully they will want to do something like this again!

Last Meeting of the Year!

For our last meeting of this year, we had a little party.  We introduced the girls to one of our favorite scout movies from our childhood...

The girls got to make ice cream sundaes.

 

We also gave them pillowcases and t-shirts to decorate and use for our upcoming overnight to Timber Ridge!

 

The girls spent so much time on their pillowcases, that some didn't get to finish their nightgowns!

 

I love how they take pride in everything that they make!

For our last meeting, we gave the girls a copy of the pictures that out photographer friend took of us.

Digital Photography!

At this meeting, we had my friend Jessica come talk to the girls.  She is a professional photographer and runs her own business.  We had the girls bring some sort of device that takes pictures.  First she talked to us about taking pictures.

 

 

Then the girls got to go outside and practice taking different types of pictures.

 

Of course we took our troop picture!

 

After that, we made picture frames to put some of the pictures that we took in.

Gardening!

This meeting was super fun!  Since the weather is kind of unpredictable in the spring, we wanted to work on the gardening patch but we decided to earn this by making fairy gardens!  First the girls got to paint their house for it. These were actually wooden birdhouses that were $1.

 

 

Then we talked about how to plant flowers.  We filled out pots with dirt.

 

And then the girls planted a flower in their pot.

 

Then they got to design their gardens by adding their birdhouses, some stones and rocks, and even moss.

I think they turned out pretty cool and the girls seemed super excited about them!

 

At the end of this meeting, the girls received a bunch of patches that they have earned.  So proud of them!

 

Since we teamed up with my Daisy troop, we did a friendship circle and sang "make new friends."
