Getting Ready for Thinking Day!

We've been meeting a lot lately to make up for some lost meeting time due to snow days! We have Thinking Day coming up.  All the troops at our school are getting to together to celebrate.  Each troop picks a country and gets to research it, make a poster, share information, make a SWAP, and present a game or story.  We chose the country of Norway!  The girls learned some neat and interesting facts about it and helped decorate pictures to go with the facts.

Then we showed them a short movie of a folktale from Norway called "The Three Billy Goats Gruff." We are going to do a readers theater of it as part of our presentation.

Mrs. Held hepled get the SWAPS ready and the girls helped make some.

Here is our board that the girls had a part in.  We even found some cool information about Girl Scouts in Norway.

Here are what are SWAPS look like.  We need to make enough to give to all the scouts coming. This represents important things to Norway the beads on the pin represent the colors of their flag.

Then we had the girls pick some characters from their scripts and practice their reading of the 3 billy goats.

They are excited!

Girl Scout Cookie Time!

We've been busy Daisies lately as we sold over 1,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies!
At our last meeting, we worked on earning all of our leaves:  Money Counts, Count it Up, Making Choices.  We talked about what we want to do with our cookie money. We worked with counting money as we are going to have a cookie booth where we will be selling cookies at a store!  We made posters to advertise.

The girls had fun and the cookies get picked up next week!

Cookie Workshop!

It's such a fun time for our Daisy troop because..... It's Girl Scout Cookie Time!
We attended a cookie workshop last week put on by some older Girl Scouts.  It was designed to teach the girls a little bit more about Girl Scouts, but more importantly, all about the cookies!
We started with a trivia game about Girl Scouts in general.

Each time we answered a question right, we got to move up to the next cookie!

The girls were divided into teams and had to discuss the answers.  At least they were multiple choice!

Next we got to make cell phones. It was neat because there were directions on there about to safely call someone and sell them some cookies!

Next game each girl had  different cookie and had to collect cards to fill their buckets about that cookie, whether it be a picture of it, some of the indregients, what the box looks like, etc.

They had fun doing this and learned some of the names of the cookies.

We even played the cookie walk.

Next we got to play a matching game where we had to match up the cookies.

It was like a memory game.

Allison and Addison.

Kate and Kaelin.

Gracie and Marin C.

Jackie and Meryn B.
We had fun and we learned a lot.  I can't wait to see how many boxes of cookies are troop sells.

Making the World a Better Place!

At our last Daisy meeting, we worked on our petal to make the world a better place. First thing we did was grab some trash bags and head outside to clean up our playground at school.

When we got back in, it was time to make bird feeders.

We used pinecones and toilet paper rolls and spread peanut butter on them and then rolled it in birdseed.  We also tied string to them so we could hang them from our trees at home.

We also made garland of Cheerios so that we could string those around our trees at home too.  It helps make the world a better place!  At least for the birds!

Tree Trimming!

We had a great time the other day at school! A few of the Girl Scout troops came together to decorate our tree at school and have some holiday fun!

We had quite a few Daisy and Brownie troops there but thankfully we had some older Girl Scouts to help out!

We started out by playing some relay games.

First the girls had to walk with a popsicle stick and balance a marshmallow on it.

Then the girls had to race to put on some winter gear.

Next we learned a cool new game that had us singing a new sassy version of "Rudolph."

After that, we got to eat snacks!

Then finally it was our troop's turn to decorate the tree. We made our own ornaments as part of the using resources wisely petal.  The girls were so excited to hang them up.

Here is all of the awesome Girl Scouts that were there.

We ended it by making one big friendship circle and doing the friendship squeeze.
It was so much fun!

Using Resources Wisely!

I am late in posting our last meeting from last week. This meeting was fun because we had the girls bring in recycled items and we made Christmas ornaments out of them!

The girls had so much fun crafting.

What creative little daisies we have!

We are excited because for our next meeting we will be hanging our handmade ornaments on our school's Christmas tree!  We will be teaming up with other troops at our school to help decorate it!  It will be so much fun! We can't wait!
