Money Manager!

So I totally haven't been keeping up with pictures as I usually have at our Brownie meetings...Sorry!
We did great selling cookies this year and we sold over 1100 boxes!  We have been working on the Money Manager Patch.  So for this week's meeting, we headed to Target!
The goal was to see if we could spend out money wisely.  It was all about thinking of needs and wants and staying within a budget.  We divided the girls into 3 groups.  At the food section, they had to buy food to last the weekend with only $30.  They had to keep track of what they bought and how much it cost. (We rounded the prices up and didn't worry about tax).  We had conversations about whether or not we really needed certain food items.  We also made sure that we had breakfast, lunch, and dinner accounted for.  We had a little left so we added a healthy snack.

After some food shopping, we headed to the toy department where we had to pretend that we had $25 to buy birthday presents for a twin boy/girl.  W figured we had about $12 to spend on both.  We learned that Barbies and Legos are not cheap so we opted for some games and a My Little Pony.

After that, we headed to the clothes department where we had $25 to spend to buy a  new outfit for a party!  This was pretty fun! The girls enjoyed this.  Some even made sure to include some new undies!

And some girls had a little extra so they added in some socks!

We met back up to calculate what we spent and if we stayed within our budget. The girls had a chance to share what they learned and were pretty happy with how they did that some asked if we could do this again!

Here you go moms!  Time to start letting your little money managers help you shop!
