Presenting Daisy Girl Scout Troop 686!
It was a cold day in February of 2013 when teachers Kris Weiss and Holly Held decided to start up Daisy Troop 686. Both Kris and Holly have girls that were in Kindergarten, just the right age to start Daisies. Both of the leaders were Girl Scouts themselves when they were younger and were in it for many years. When they had their first child, both girls, they vowed to become Girl Scout leaders one day. Well that day has finally come! We signed up, although taking longer than we thought. We started out with the names of 6 interested girls and by the time word spread about our first meeting, we had 14 excited girls on our hands!
Here is Gracie modeling her new Daisy smock. She is excited to start earning her petals!
The girls all received little Daisy tote bags to bring with them to their meetings to carry home any papers, notes, and crafts that we made that day.
We started the meeting of course with The Pledge of
Allegiance. We then made a petal for our troop sign in which the girls all
decorated and wrote their names on a petal.
Then we did some get-to-know-you activities. One was tracing
a buddy and then drawing ourselves as Daisy Girl Scouts and talking about our
similarities and differences.
Good thing we are holding our meetings at school and have the
space to do this!
We then played another game called Daisy-to-Daisy. The girls
had fun and got to change partners so that they got to make new friends.
They are such little darlings. Totally different than the 3rd
graders we teach.
But we did it! We started our own Daisy Troop like we said we
would.
On my honor,
I will try,
to serve God,
and my
country,
to help people at
all times,
and to live by the
Girl Scout law.
